Quite simply, I once owned this game. When, like the fool I can be, I got rid of my snes, PTO went with it. This game -along with Koei's Liberty Or Death (also a strong reccommendation) -is why I got my snes back. (Five bucks at the thrift store for the system was certainly a strong incentive!) The battles ARE a bit tedious, but the history and the game's overall playability make up for this. Ship types like subs, aircraft carriers, cruisers, & etc, each with their own abilities, affect the outcome of the game (niiiice). The menus give the player immense control over the game, but this is interrupted by battles and other alerts. This it usually a great feature of the game but can get to be a pain after a while. Still, I love the game and -as I pointed out -was one of two games I wanted to get when I got a snes back. Give it a great rating for overall coupled with a bit of unpleasantry for the battles and the somewhat too often alerts and this is a good game. Oh, and you can set the names and abilities Of your commanders!Read full review

I love this game. It makes you think. P.T.O. is not what one might call a mindless video game. Great strategy game overall. If you haven't played it, you need to.
One of the great RPG classics from the Kings of RPG/Simulation/Actiog games. KOEI is known for everything from PTO and Aeoribiz to the most recent Dynasty Warriors Gundam II and Dynasty Warriors 7 for the PS3. Highly recommend any KOEI title you can get your hands on, old or new.
PTO is a WW2 turn based strategy game from Koei, makers or Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dynasty Warriors, Nobunaga's Ambition, and more. It is very menu based, and can be slow paced. Unless you really love history "what if?'s", or turn based strategy games, this game is not for you.
